If you’re wondering what restomods are, they’re custom cars that combine older cars with newer tech. Many of them use the bodies of old cars and then put bigger engines in them, or replace the parts that were weaker or more prone to wearing out with newer parts made out of hardier, studier materials. That makes these cars not exactly “classic” cars, per se. Instead, it makes them something totally different, new and originals. Of course, we’re glad to buy them.
How Restomods are Different
Typically, they tend to have a few specific changes. Many of the folks who are building these custom vehicles opt for better, modern performance tires that can certainly do more than the tires of the past. Other changes include beefing up the suspension so that it can help with the turns as well as going all out straight ahead. Of course, improving the brakes is a good move for the car as well as anyone in it. Transmissions are perhaps one of the most common changes, as it allows for fuel economy on the road. Some of the changes are just in your enjoyment of the vehicle. After all, there’s something about driving in a classic car with media players, smartphones and all sorts of modern day audio.
