Sell A Classic Jaguar Car
Jaguar Style Car Auto Classic Retro Vehicle
The first Jaguar model appeared in 1935 in the form of a SS 2 ½ litre sports sedan. The company had been around for thirteen years, since 1922, under the name Swallow Sidecar Company, a motorcycle sidecar manufacturer. That is, until the release of the aforementioned SS Jaguar 2 ½ litre sedan, which would see both the beginning of the Swallow Sidecar Company as a passenger car maker, and the Jaguar line itself.
The company, originated and based in the United Kingdom, changed its name to Jaguar Cars Limited in 1945. This was, according to then chairman William Lyons, in order to adopt a more recognizable name than S.S. and avoid confusions with other similarly named organizations (the change came a few months before the end of World War II and the fall of the Third Reich).
Under the new name, Jaguar Cars Limited soon became a staple of the British automobile scene with a series of successful luxury sports cars like the Jaguar XK120 (1948), the Jaguar XK140 (1954), the Jaguar XK150 (1957), and the Jaguar E-Type (1961), all of which aimed at maintaining chairman Lyons’s “value for money” mantra. To this day, Jaguar remains a key player in the international luxury car market, and a source of inspired vehicles.
