In 1992, the Rolls-Royce Corniche III in order to implement a few safety and styling changes into the short-lived iteration of the lineup. Unveiled and presented at the in January 1992 at the Detroit Auto Show, the Rolls-Royce Corniche IV was the first of the brand to be manufactured in Crew, Cheshire, England, due to the anticipated closure of the Mulliner Park Ward in London. In order to commemorate the 21st Anniversary of the Rolls-Royce Corniche line, twenty-five special models were built, all in Ming Blue finish and sporting a silver designating them as unique.

While visually resonant and of its predecessors, the model was the first to implement a 4-speed automatic transmission, as well as adaptative suspension. The only visual difference is the replacement of the plastic rear window with a glass rear window in the new model. Sporting CFC-free air conditioning, a top mechanism that no longer required manual latching, and updated driver and passenger airbags, the new Rolls-Royce IV model represented a leap forward in safety and convenience.
