1959 marked the last year of the Porsche 356 A generation. It was a modest year in terms of production numbers, mostly because the company was revving up for the release of the new iteration of the model. The introduction of three new 1.6 L type engines still made for an interesting model year. These little updates would begin to pave the way for the incoming B generation, which would mark a more significant departure from the previous ten years of the 356 line. Even if it isn’t as fondly remembered as its contemporaries, the 1959 Porsche 356 still stands strong among them.

The Porsche 356 generation marked a landmark for Porsche, particularly in its expansion to the American market and the cementing of its status as a luxury brand. As the brand continued to expand and explore their identity within the sports car niche, they would keep finding new ways to deliver characteristically Porsche vehicles that would still find a way to surprise their intended audience.
