The sixth generation of the Buick Roadmaster, which ran from 1954 to 1956, was one of the models that debuted the new General Motors C-body, also featured in the co-occurrent Cadillac and Oldsmobile 98. This meant that new Dagmar bumpers were implemented into the new ponton-like appearance of the model, a larger, longer, and roomier version of its predecessor. A bold new change to the design was the introduction of a blunted fin in the rear fenders, which had dual bullet taillamps right below. The model also featured a panoramic windshield with vertical side pillars.
No major changes were made to the model throughout the run of the sixth generation of Buicks. This was, after all, a very brief iteration of the line. Sale numbers dropped in comparison to the previous years and fluctuated throughout the run. In hindsight, it is considered more of an interim generation than its own. The economic recession in 1956 didn’t help, and it would continue to affect the Roadmaster line in its following generation.
