In 1975, The Porsche Carrera 3.0 was introduced in all markets ( except for the United States where there were stricter fuel emission laws).  The well known Sportomatic transmission is now a three-speed ( down from 4 speed) Previously, there had been much criticism of the tendency of the 911’s to rust and so Porsche manufacturers used zinc coating in 1970 but this was only used on the underside of the car. Beginning in August of 1975, they went a step further as all models received a much improved zinc treatment not only to the underside but also  to all-steel utilized in the chassis and other parts of the car.
