As the A generation of the Porsche 356 came to an end in 1959, several stylistic and functional changes were implemented in order to further refine the model and deliver a new iteration of its own. The 1960 Porsche 356 sported a brand new body type known as T5 (for Type 5). The new model welcomed the new decade with a slightly different look in which the more distinct curvy bumps of the vehicle were made smoother. This subtle but noticeable change marked a transition between the characteristic voluptuousness of fifties’ car design and the elegance and sophistication of the sixties.

The 1960 Porsche 356 marked the beginning of the B generation of the Porsche 356 line. Although this first model was not extremely distinct from its predecessors, it would slowly transform across this generation into a significantly different vehicle. After all, in order to maintain themselves relevant, the team at Porsche knew that it was necessary, not only to keep adapting to general taste, but to also keep defining it.
