The 250 SL or California Coupe as it is sometimes known, is the rarest of the Pagodas as it was only built for one production year. The car  was offered with no soft top and as a result, there was space available to add a rear bench seat which could be folded down.

The engine of the 250 Sl was bigger than its 230 predecessor. Also, in the 250 Sl ,power steering became standard ( In the 230 Sl this was optional)  Of the five thousand plus 250 SL’s built, 1900 were exported to the US with most of these sporting the standard 4 spd automatic transmission. The 250 SL’s with the 2+2 manual transmission are  especially valuable.
