The design for the XJS began in the late 60’s under the leadership of Malcolm Sayer who died before its completion. The work was continued by Jaguar’s design team and the car was subsequently displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show of 1975. This first-generation XJS was only available as a coupe. Powered by a V12 engine, the car could be ordered with either manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. Other features of the car include power windows, power locks, climate control, black bumpers on the exterior and Kent alloy wheels.
