The Cord Corporation was founded and operated by E. L. Cord. Inspired by innovative designs and technology, E.L.’s goals was to bring a vehicle to the market which was constructed based on unique designs. The Cord is an American brand luxury vehicle which dates back to 1929. Manufactured by The Auburn Automobile Company until 1937, the Cord met its ultimate demise due to bankruptcy. However, that does not dismiss the vehicle from existence. On behalf of the companies short lived production, the Cord is that much more of a commodity as a classic car. Although the Cord underwent numerous designs and revivals, the vehicle never quite made it back to the lot. In order to keep its memory alive, the model has been reinvented in numerous pop culture references and novels.
