Motor Trend Magazine timed the 1970 Chevrolet Corvette at covering the quarter-mile in 14.36 seconds, reaching a speed of 101.69 miles per hour. This compared favorably to its contemporary Porche equivalent. The publication called them the best of American and German engineering respectively, granting the 1970 Corvette a remarkable status. Due to a delay in the start of its manufacturing, the new model had a shorter production lifespan and lower production number than others in its line, but it still delivered an outstanding vehicle.

The new production year introduced tweaked interiors and redesigned setas, offering a new deluxe interior option that combined higher-spec carpeting, wood-grain accents, and leather seat surfaces. The model also made tinted glass a standard in the line.
