The third iteration of the Corvette C2 generation opted for cleaning up the style of its predecessor while also enhancing the powerplants and the braking system. The hood was smoothed out, ridding it of scoop indentations, the rocker-panel moldings and the wheel covers were restyled, and three vertical exhaust vents replaced the previous horizontal speed lines. In short, the aesthetic changes were subtle but went a long way in perfecting the Corvette’s design.
The performance itself remained outstanding, heightened by the addition of a new 396 CID Big-Block V8 engine that increased the available horsepower, and new Sport-Master disc brakes that smoothen the model’s stops beyond regular requirements. Overall, the 1965 Corvette retained everything that made the line special, while only perfecting its performance.
