For the model years 1970-1971, the 911T, E, and S were standard models. Sales of the 911 continued to increase, and this was partly due to the popularity of Porsche on the racing circuit. The 911 was better than ever since steering and handling had improved significantly from the first generation because of changes in the chassis and engine.
The 1970 and 1971 Porsche 911s are also called the C and D programs respectively. The 2.2 Litre Porches vary slightly from the previous models. For model years 1970 and 1971, aluminum replaced the chrome on parts of the chassis. The earlier 911s were very prone to rust, and in an effort to correct this, all current models received an anti-corrosion sealant. Other improvements included the introduction of electric side windows and an ergonomically improved dashboard and door handles.
